West Point Army Community Service held its 50 Years of Service Proclamation Signing Ceremony June 26. The Garrison Command Team signed the proclamation witnessed by current and former ACS staff, volunteers, community members and partners.
This historic moment dedicated the West Point Army Community Service Center as the Emma Marie Baird Army Community Service Center. Lt. Col. Baird is known throughout the Army as the “Mother of Army Community Service.”
Baird began serving Soldiers and families when World War II began. In 1943, she served in the Woman’s Auxiliary Army Corps later called the Woman’s Army Corps (WAC). Her first assignment was in support of Army Emergency Relief. Read More
