WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point senior Matt Hugenberg is among those listed on the 2015 Fall Watch List for the Rimington Trophy, presented to the nation's top center. The Rimington Trophy Committee released the 63 names Wednesday. Hugenberg learned the center position prior to the start of his junior year and quickly made an impact, playing nearly all of the Black Knights' snaps last season. He was part of an offensive line that helped Army West Point rank fifth in the country in rushing offense.
Hugenberg is one of 46 players appearing on the list for the first time. Finalists for the award will be revealed Dec. 7. The Rimington Trophy is given annually to the nation's best center and is named for Dave Rimington, a consensus first-team All-American at the University of Nebraska. The winner will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb., Jan. 16.
Hugenberg, a 6-foot-5, 309-pound senior from Quincy, Ill., is the latest Black Knights to be included on award watch lists. Linebacker Jeremy Timpf is being considered for the Lott IMPACT Trophy as well as the Bednarik Award as the nation's top defensive player. Read More
