WEST POINT, N.Y. - Following another performance for the ages, Army West Point senior right-handed pitcher Alex Robinett has collected multiple honors on the national and conference stages. Robinett, who struck out an Academy record 21 batters in Army West Point's 8-0 shutout of Air Force, was tabbed as the Collegiate Baseball News Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week for the second time this season. In addition, he was named the Corvias Patriot League Pitcher of the Week and the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week.
Robinett, who threw the fifth no-hitter in Academy history earlier this season, pitched himself into exclusive territory with his 21 strikeouts against the Falcons. The Bend, Ore., native fanned at least two batters in every inning of his final collegiate start. He did not walk a batter and struck out the side in three different innings, including the ninth of his three-hit gem. The last five outs of the night were strikeouts as Robinett shattered the previous Army West Point record of 17 punchouts in a single game. Read More
