West Point Women’s Team Handball competed at home recently in the first of the Northeast Team Handball League (NTHL) tournaments. This year the women’s division of the NTHL has eight teams, six of which competed at this tournament. The West Point Black team faced the University of North Carolina (UNC), a new team from Philadelphia, and West Point Gold, who also competed against UNC along with the DC Diplomats. Both West Point Gold and Black struggled at different points on the court as several new players are learning how to time the plays, position themselves on the court and read the defense. West Point Black walked away with a 3-0 league record. As a new team, Gold continued to develop and challenge their expanding skill set. Both teams are gaining a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses through competition, which will serve as a basis for what the women will focus on in practice.
