For the second time this season, Army West Point plebe Shelby Piccinic has been selected as Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week. Piccnic was Army's top finisher against service academy rival Navy at this year's Star Meet. The rookie finished with a time of 22:06.2, which was good enough for a third-place finish in her first trip to the Naval Academy course.
"Shelby has been our most consistent performer this fall and this weekend she took a nice step forward," head coach Mike Smith said. "She got right into the race and competed all the way to the line. Her time on that course is the second fastest time by an Army runner in a series that started in 1986, so what she did is pretty remarkable. She is athletic and very strong, so the challenging course at Navy was not a factor for her"
