The Army West Point baseball team defeated Scared Heart, 12-3, here Tuesday afternoon in a midweek contest at Doubleday Field. The Black Knights trailed 1-0 after the first frame but answered with the tying score in the bottom half and never really looked back. A big four-run inning in the third and a two-run frame in the fourth created a 7-1 gap on the scoreboard. Anfernee Crompton notched a two-run single in the third to highlight that stretch. Matt Hudgins (2), Drake Titus, and John McKenna also registered a run batted in during that time. The Pioneers cut into the deficit in the top of the eighth following two walks and a double that plated two runs but the Cadets responded with another huge five-run bottom frame to keep the game out of reach. Army tallied three-straight singles during the inning from the bats of Jon Rosoff, Anthony Giachin and Tim Simoes. Rookie Rob Regine drilled a two-run single as well later on in the frame to extend the Black Knights' advantage to 12-3. Joe Santoro then came in for relief and registered a one, two, three inning, including back-to-back strikeouts to secure the win. Read More
