The Army West Point women's lacrosse team defeated American 17-8 for the program's first-ever Patriot League win at home on Saturday afternoon. The Black Knights earned their second league win in as many seasons after topping Colgate, 11-9, on April 19 in Hamilton, N.Y., last year. Rookie Jackie Brattan opened the scoring with a tally less than two minutes into the contest on a feed from Samantha Stewart. After the Eagles responded with 20:34 on the clock to tie the game at one apiece, Maddie Miller found a cutting Manuela Cortes to retake the lead. The Miller goal sparked a scoring frenzy between the two sides, combining for three goals over a 2:21 span. Army earned its first home Patriot League victory in program history. The Black Knights set a new program record with their fourth home win of the season. Lauren Bredenburg collected game-highs in caused turnovers (3) and ground balls (6).
