Three nuclear engineering majors visited the Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC) facility to utilize the x-ray machine to further their research into establishing a radiography lab inside Bartlett Hall. While the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (PaNE) does not yet have an x-ray machine for the lab, cadets have utilized gamma sources, along with a ScanX Scout computed radiography system to produce images of industrial items (no humans). KACH Radiology Team giving cadets time on the machine, with an x-ray technician present, allowed the cadets to image aluminum calibration plates which were produced in the PaNE machine shop. This experience with an actual x-ray machine, rather than gamma sources, helps them develop the techniques and procedures that will be used as they establish standard operating procedures for an industrial radiography capability in the House of PaNE.
