Poirier, Swafford Softball Preseason All-League

Cow Renee Poirier and yearling Lacey Swafford of the Army West Point softball team earned Preseason All-Patriot League honors, while the Black Knights were picked to finish third on Wednesday afternoon. For Poirier, this is her second preseason all-league honor after receiving the recognition last year, while Swafford picks up her first preseason accolade. "It's great to see our team represented by Lacey and Renee on the league level," head coach Michelle DePolo said. "Both of them have proven to be among the top in the Patriot League so it's humbling to have them recognized." Poirier posted a team-best 2.19 earned run average a season ago in 150.1 innings of work. That ERA was the third-lowest in the Patriot League among pitchers who made more than 30 appearances on the season. In 32 appearances, she tallied 14 wins and 15 complete games with four shutouts.
