Civil and Mechanical Engineering (CME) cadets Austen Deppe and Jacqueline Orr with faculty advisor Dr. Aaron Freidenberg visited the Aberdeen Proving Ground to conduct a blast test in support of their Capstone project, namely, an underbody structure design for the next generation combat vehicle. The cadets 3D printed their design in titanium at 1:16 scale and performed a physical test to simulate the effects of a buried IED, with the assistance of ARL research scientists Chris Cummins and Jeff Lloyd.
