Cadets Leo Milman and Joseph Anderson along with LTC Novoselich provided key leaders from Project Manager Close Combat Systems (PMCCS) with a glimpse of how cadet capstone projects within the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (CME) are providing value back to the Army. COL Slater, the project manager for close combat systems started the session by providing the cadets with a brief orientation to the Army’s acquisition process and the PMCCS portfolio. LTC Novoselich reciprocated with a brief overview of the Center for Innovation and Engineering (CIE) and recent weapons related cadet projects. Milman followed with an overview of his team’s ARDEC-sponsored MK47 Abrams tank mount project. Anderson then discussed his team’s SOCOM inspired, ARDEC-sponsored fire-fighting projectile project. COL Slater closed the session by allowing the cadets an opportunity to ask questions of the PMCCS leadership to gain greater insight into Army leadership and the professional life of practicing engineers. The session was a part of PMCCS’s annual strategic offsite. This was the first time that PMCCS has held the event at West Point.
