Modifications at the Cadet Observatory

Expert contractors, Mr. Knoll and Mr. McGriff from Oceanside Photo and Camera, supplier of the astronomy equipment in the New Cadet Observatory, recently visited from California. While at West Point they cleaned and collimated the 12-inch and 8-inch Meade telescopes, synchronized the motion of the main, 16-inch, scope and the observatory dome using TheSkyX controlling software and assisted at the evening meeting of the Cadet Astronomy Club. Cadets and their OIC, Dr. Fekete of PaNE, were able to enjoy the balmy weather up on the Astronomy Rooftop Terrace and take a look at the (nearly) full Hunter’s Moon with the newly-refurbished 12-inch telescope.
