Triathlon Races Travels to Buzzards Bay

The Army West Point Triathlon Team traveled to Buzzards Bay and raced at Horseneck Beach State Reservation in Massachusetts. All 14 Cadets and 2 exchange Cadets from the Air Force & Coast Guard Academy completed a 1/3-mile swim in the ocean, a 14-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. Leading the team, Nick Chatel ’18 finished in 2nd place overall with a time of 1:02. Finishing next was Dylan Varrato ’17 who set a personal record on the run clocking in a time of 16:49 in the 5k. The 3rd place finisher for the team was Graham King ’19 who finished with an overall time of 1:06. Also notable, Thatch Shepard ’20 set a blazing pace on the swim and was the first to exit the water on only his second triathlon competition. The female team finished as a strong pack led by Hailey Conger ’19 followed by Katrina Josberger ’19 and Megan Jarrell ’19. The team celebrated at the awards ceremony taking home first place in the Northeast Collegiate Triathlon Conference division.
