ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Army West Point volleyball team swept service academy rival Navy Friday night at Alumni Hall. The Black Knights defeated the Mids 3-0 with set scores of 25-23, 27-25 and 25-23. The Cadets improved to 19-7 overall and 11-2 in the Patriot League.

"I am proud of the team for staying mentally tough when we needed to stay tough," said head coach Alma Kovaci. "There was strong volleyball on both sides, but all matches between Army and Navy are. I am so proud of the team for staying patient and believing in themselves until the very end. As coaches we believe in them. The theme we chose for today was to finish the games and we did. I am incredibly proud of this special group of young ladies."

Olivia Fairfield led the Black Knights with 11 kills on 29 attempts. Carolyn Bockrath recorded 10 kills and was followed by Vanessa Wesley who had eight. Nicole Perri and Jaden Pickell contributed four kills apiece in the victory with Perri also adding a team-high three service aces. Vanessa Edwards had 36 assists for Army and 11 digs, while Shannel Chong recorded 16 digs. Read More
