Women’s Team Handball Travels to Chicago

From 22-25 Oct., the Army West Point Team Handball Women’s club travelled to Chicago, IL, to face off against two of the best teams in both the US and Canada. Although West Point fell short of these two teams with years of experience under their belts, the scores were close considering the West Point Women’s team started playing together only a few weeks prior to the competition. On Friday night, West Point faced the Club National Champions, Chicago International, who took the lead to win 23-13. West Point quickly recovered to win against Chicago International’s B team 14-11. After taking a second loss to the Canadian National Champions, Alberta THC, West Point faced Calheat for a rematch after a hard loss earlier in the day. Playing against Calheat to determine third place in the tournament, West Point fought hard and fell just short of winning with a score of 22-20. The team fought through these hard losses and learned that as a new team, they must first learn to connect with each other before things will begin to fall into place. The intensity on the court against these teams with years of experience, and coming closer to winning after each game so early in the season, shows the potential and drive this team has to becoming even better.
