The Army West Point Pistol Team hosted the Coast Guard Academy on 30-31 Oct., for an intercollegiate pistol match. In the first event, Free Pistol, CDTs Jeff Schanz and Travis Moody shot outstanding scores of 535 and 530 out of a possible 600; CDTs Jack Fagerland and Anthony Veith rounded out the scoring team with a score of 497 and 492, respectively, giving Army a team score of 2054 to USCGA’s 1911. In the following event, Air Pistol, CDTs Minhee Pak and Travis Moody shot outstanding scores of 562 and 561, respectively; CDT Anthony Veith shot a 556 and CDT Jeff Schanz shot a 553, to give Army a team score of 2232 to USCGA’s 2166. The final event was Standard Pistol; USCGA bested Army in this event with a score of 2119 to Army’s 2115. For the three aggregate score to determine the overall match winner, Army shot an outstanding 6401 to USCGA’s 6196. CDT Pak led the scoring for the two women’s events, shooting an excellent 370 out of 400 in Women’s Air Pistol, and 545 out of 600 in Women’s Sport Pistol. Army bested USCGA in Women’s Air Pistol with a score of 1048 to USCGA’s 1013; also, Army shot a team score of 1525 in Sport Pistol to USCGA’s 1509. The two event aggregate score gave Army the win with a score of 2573 to USCGA’s 2522.
