Cadets Build Temperature Sensors

On October 14-19, IT105 (Introduction to Computing and Information Technology) conducted its lab where cadets solder and build a temperature sensor. This involves most Plebes learning to solder for the first time. The device created has a display screen that shows the temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius degrees. Because the cadets have been learning about modifying the red, green, and blue light that make up the pixel colors in digital pictures, the sensor also has a menu in which they can change the display color by changing the red, green, and blue components of the LED used to provide background lighting of the display. The IT105 faculty and cadets are assisted by the EECS Engineering Support Group technicians who set up benches in the hall to assist cadets with soldering or debugging the sensor. Story
