After leading the Army West Point golf team to two first place and seven top-five finishes, head coach Brian Watts has been named the Division I Golf Pride Grips Northeast Region Coach of the Year, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Monday.
"We are very proud of Brian and the accomplishments of the Army West Point golf team," said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Boo Corrigan. "Since joining our staff, Brian has shaped the program into a top contender and deserves this recognition. He has mentored our cadet-athletes on and off the course and does a tremendous job translating each one's potential into reality and building leaders of character."
Under Watts, the Black Knights placed in the top-five in all but two tournaments during the 2014-15 season and earned the coveted Star over service Academy rival Navy. Three individuals earned PING All-Region Honors and three garnered All-Patriot League Accolades. Read More
