WEST POINT, N.Y. - Kevin Ferguson matched his career high with 20 points and Army erased a five-point halftime deficit to defeat Boston University 71-67 on Thursday night at Christl Arena. The win was Army's third straight and improved the team to 5-4 in the Patriot League. Point guard Dylan Cox put in a season-high 16 points, led Army (14-6, 5-4 Patriot) with five assists and tied with Ferguson for the team lead in rebounds with six apiece. As a team, Army shot 50 percent from the floor (26-of-52), despite knocking down three of their 22 three-point attempts (13.6 percent).
Army was also terrific at the foul line, hitting 13-of-16, including Larry Toomey's pair that sealed the victory with six seconds remaining and Army clinging to a two-point lead. Toomey finished with nine points and matched his career high with five assists.
The Black Knights limited Boston University (8-12, 4-5 Patriot) to 40 percent from the field (24-of-60) and 6-for-25 from beyond the three-point line (24 percent). The Terriers' top performer was Eric Fanning, who poured in 27 points on a 7-for-11 effort from the field. Fanning was 11-for-14 from the line and grabbed eight rebounds, while BU as a whole struggled from the charity stripe going 13-for-22.
