Cadets Attend Lecture on Cognitive Impacts of Exoskeletons

Seminar with MIT Faculty on the cognitive impacts of exoskeletons. Cadets attended the Mechanical Engineering Seminar on current research in biomechanical engineering and human factors during an evening lecture period with Dr. Leia Stirling, Assistant Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prof. Stirling discussed her research in exoskeletons and human-machine fluency so that wearable technologies can better interact with the user and improve performance. Specifically, she discussed the cognitive "fit" of various exoskeletons and how researchers can better define and design exoskeletons to reduce overall cognitive load. The work presented was recently completed in part by 1LT Blake Bequette, a recent Civil and Mechanical Engineering Department graduate, as part of his Draper Fellowship.
