Cadets from the Department of English and Philosophy, as well as Cadets from the West Point Humanist Society, attended the 5th annual Mid-Hudson Philosophy Society conference at Marist College. The Mid-Hudson Philosophy Society is a consortium of five schools, West Point, Marist, Vassar, Bard, and SUNY New Paltz which meet annually for a philosophy conference. Each year, the conference features a keynote speaker and a student speaker from each school. This year, the keynote speaker was Robert Pasnau, from University of Colorado, Boulder, who presented a paper titled "Socratic Guises and Epistemic Biases." Cadet Brett Yelverton presented a paper titled "A Moral Argument for Self-Defense in Cyber," after which, a lively discussion followed. Next year's conference will be hosted at West Point.
