Head Coach Kevin Ward and the Army West Point wrestling team's incoming recruiting class was recognized by WIN Magazine as one of the top-25 best in the nation. The class was voted the 18th-best according to WIN Magazine, after being tabbed 18th by The Open Mat and 21st by InterMat. Additionally, the group received an honorable mention in FloWrestling's top-20.
"This is an impressive class of young men who will continue to do great things during their time at West Point," Ward said. "Every one of these guys has strong character and a proven record of success in all that they do. I look forward to working with them to help them achieve their goals of being NCAA Champions. They have an incredible opportunity to leave a lasting legacy on this program, and we can't wait to have these young men on campus."
Army sent three wrestlers to NCAAs in Cleveland last season with all three returning for the first time in Ward's tenure at West Point. The Black Knights placed eighth at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships, while six cadet-athletes earned podium finishes. Additionally, Army earned runner-up honors at the All-Academy Championships and defeated service-academy rival Navy, 18-15, in the annual Star Match in Annapolis, Md., for the first time since 1961.
