Cadets Teach Cyber Security at WPMSAs part of their independent study work, CDTs Ovidiu-Gabriel Baciu-Ureche and Carlie Sleeman along with LTC William "Clay" Moody and Dr. Suzanne J. Matthews travelled to West Point Middle School (WPMS) to teach cyber security concepts on the Raspberry Pi single board computer. CDT Karlee Scott (who is also on the project) could not attend. The event, coordinated by Dr. Suzanne J. Matthews (UMSA) and Ms. Wonee Aversa (WPMS), was designed for members of the WPMS coding club to learn about "cyber hygiene" and basic cyber security concepts using novel educational material developed by the cadet and faculty team. During the activity, 25 coding club members were introduced to the "Adventures of ScriptKitty", a comic-based introduction to cyber security concepts targeted toward middle school students. The "Adventures of ScriptKitty" follows the journey of Ruby (a cat) and her friends Ed and Pixel as she attempts unlock the mystery of her human's activities on the web. During the exercise, students read the comic and instructions, and completed a packet sniffing exercise using the Raspberry Pi and Kali Linux. The exercise reinforces the dangers of using openly accessible wireless networks for surfing the web. The storyline and illustrations of the "Adventures of ScriptKitty" were created by Sleeman and Scott, while the exercise component were developed by Baciu-Ureche. The current version of "The Adventures of ScriptKitty" can be accessed through GitBook: https://legacy.gitbook.com/book/suzannejmatthews/aosk/details Students seemed intrigued by the story line, and have asked that the cadet and faculty team return in the future to cover the rest of Ruby's journey.
