The West Point Cadet Gospel Choir visited Children's village on a service-oriented trip section. Children’s Village in Dobbs Ferry, NY is a private institution with a mission to provide for the most vulnerable in our society. It has residential programs that are a home for foster children, juvenile delinquents, runaways/homeless, and undocumented children. The cadets sang three songs at both the English and Spanish speaking services. After singing, they shared their testimonies about how they got into West Point; the hardships they have overcome; the lessons they learned; and ended with giving words of encouragement for the congregation. Following the services, the cadets visited the different residential homes. They went to the housing for the youngest foster children, maximum security unit residents, limited security residents, and the youngest juvenile delinquents. At each home, the cadets had the opportunity to converse and create impactful relationships with the residents.
