Cadets Shadow Physicians at Walter Reed Medical Center

Thirty-four cadets from the West Point Pre-Medical Society (WPMMS) traveled to Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, MD to shadow physicians in an array of specialties. This annual opportunity allows cadets to gain invaluable shadowing experience that is required in their future applications to medical school. For two full days cadets directly experience the rigors of the hospital work environment and learn specific skills of various specialties. The third day of the trip consisted of tours, including cadaver labs, and admissions speeches at the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences (USUHS) and the Georgetown School of Medicine. Additionally, a select group of cadets attended a reception at Georgetown, where they met MG(R) Joseph Caravalho, former Chief Medical Advisor to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and currently the president of the Henry M. Jackson Foundation.
