Mr. Bruce Brandes, the Army’s Senior Nuclear Strategist and Chief of Nuclear Plans and Operations Division, spoke to both nuclear engineering faculty and cadets about the 2018 U.S. Nuclear Posture Review and implications on future nuclear forces. Mr. Brandes highlighted current external threats to U.S. vital interests and defense strategy and explained the future posturing of U.S. nuclear forces to combat those external threats. Afterwards, Mr. Brandes had lunch with cadets associated with the USMA American Nuclear Society "Beta Chapter" which provided cadets an opportunity to engage in conversation about the current operating environment on the Korean peninsula and renewed Army emphasis on training.
