Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering cadets Zade Koch and Andrew Valkenburg traveled to Portland, OR at the Oregon Convention Center to present their work on the ballistic performance of a "mass timber" product known as cross-laminated timber (CLT). The cadets presented results that they believe to be the first data of this type published for CLT. LTC Kathryn Sanborn, who is working on her PhD at Georgia Tech and who collaborated with the cadets in their work, was also presenting at the conference and served as the Officer in Charge (OIC) for the trip.
