The Army West Point Baseball team defeated Siena, 9-6, here Wednesday afternoon in its home opener. The victory marked Army's fifth-straight win and gives the Cadets momentum heading into their home-opening weekend, which begins with a doubleheader against Bucknell on Saturday. The Black Knights broke the scoreless deadlock with three runs in the bottom of the third. Anfernee Crompton led-off the inning with a single to right field. Brendan Siriani shifted him to second following a sacrifice bunt before Jacob Hurtubise placed runners on the corners after his bunt single. Drake Titus then singled through the right side to score Army's first run of the game. During the ensuing at bat, Hurtubise touched home plate after the Saints failed to pick off Titus at first. On the play Titus advanced to third. Siena answered notching the second out of the inning via a strikeout but John McKenna followed that up singling up the middle to score Titus. During the next inning, Army combined for four runs on five hits to break the game open at 7-0. Trey Martin, Josh White and Crompton recorded back-to-back-to-back hits to lead off the frame, highlighted by a double from White. Hurtubise and Titus both registered hits later on in the inning.
