Swafford and Springman Earn Weekly League Honors

CDTs Lacey Swafford '20 and Courtney Springman '21Yearling Lacey Swafford and plebe Courtney Springman of the Army West Point softball team collected Patriot League weekly honors on Monday afternoon. Swafford was tabbed the Patriot League Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in her career. The Mayo, Fla., native has been on a tear at the plate, compiling a .524 average with a .565 on-base and .619 slugging percentage over the past six games. She tallied 11 hits with a pair of doubles, five RBIs and five runs scored from the leadoff spot. Swafford has recorded five consecutive multi-hit games and is on a seven-game hitting streak. She has also reached base safely in each of her last 10 games. Springman received her second straight pitcher of the week recognition from the league, while also earning the rookie of the week nod for the first time in her career. She was stellar inside the circle for the Black Knights this past week, tossing three complete games and posting a 0.81 ERA. Springman posted a 2-1 record and picked up her first collegiate save after coming on in relief in a 6-5 victory against Butler. The Norco, Calif., native fanned a career-best eight batters against Quinnipiac and tied that mark against Buffalo the following day. She held opposing hitters to a .165 average at the dish.
