Over the past two months faculty from the Departments of Geography & Environmental Engineering (GENE) and Civil & Mechanical Engineering (CME) led a Project Management Professional (PMP) review course for the Staff, Faculty, and Community members from across West Point. The 15-lesson course met every Tuesday and Thursday with the objective to set the conditions for successful acquisition of the PMP credential. A total of 24 individuals from nine organizations/departments attended the lessons. LTC Ben Wallen (GENE) served as the lead instructor and review course coordinator with support from LTC Aaron Hill (CME) who served as the assistant lead instructor and review course facilitator. During eight of the fifteen lessons, participants in the course helped to lead discussions regarding various chapters of the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), 5th Edition. By the end of the course, participants had reviewed all chapters within the PMBOK, answered over 700 questions, and received numerous tools and recommendations on how to study for and pass the 4-hour, 200-question exam in order to obtain PMP certification. Sponsorship of this course comes from the New York Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME).
