Springman and Snelling Collect Weekly Honors

CDTs Courtney Springman '21 and Ally Snelling '21Plebes Courtney Springman and Ally Snelling of the Army West Point softball team received Patriot League weekly honors on Monday morning. This marks the first weekly award for both cadet-athletes. Springman was tabbed the league's pitcher of the week, while Snelling picked up rookie of the week recognition. "We have a very young team on the field right now and both Courtney and Ally have been put into big roles as plebes," head coach Michelle DePolo said. Springman turned in four solid starts inside the circle for the Black Knights during the first weekend of the USF Under Armour Showcase in Clearwater, Fla. In 25 innings of work, she posted a 1.80 earned run average and struck out 20 batters, while allowing two or fewer runs in each outing. At the plate, Snelling compiled a .467 average, .533 slugging and .467 on-base percentage over the weekend. She tallied seven hits in 15 at-bats with two runs scored and an extra-base hit. The Las Vegas, Nev., native had a pair of multi-hit games against Loyola Chicago and Bethune-Cookman.
