The West Point Glee Club traveled to the town of Westport, Connecticut to give the community a public concert on the theme of World War I. The concert, which was held at the Saugatuck Congregational Church and Westport Public Library, entertained an audience of about 200 people. As a frequent commuter town, located only about 50 miles northeast of New York City, Westport is a city known for its diversity and history. The program of the concert not only focused on the historical importance of WWI, but it also paid tribute to the 27 young men and women from Westport, Stamford, and Fairfield who volunteered and gave their lives for the cause of freedom during the Great War. Upon conclusion of the concert, the members of the Glee Club attended a reception where they socialized, conversed with, and received high praise from many members of the community who were in attendance.
