Two Academy records were broken on the second day of the Patriot League Championships and the Army West Point men's swimming and diving team remained in second place. Navy continues to lead the field with 371.5 points with Army trailing at 263 points. Boston U. (153.5), Bucknell (148) and Loyola (111.5) round out the top-five with Lehigh (107.5), Colgate (92), Lafayette (66), American (61) and Holy Cross (50) right behind. Tom Ottman broke an Academy record, which he set at last year's championships in the 500 free after he hit the wall at 4:21.71. Ottman's time was good for third in the field of eight. In the ensuing men's event, Peter Mikheyev set an Academy record in the 200 IM after he won with a time of 1:46.09. Brandon McCredie defended his title in the 50 free, hitting the wall at 20.15. Evin Rude finished right behind and was part of a three-way tie for second with a time of 20.25. Hogan Harper also scored for Army in the event, winning the B-Final with his time of 20.63. To close out the night, the foursome of Josh Sembrano, Brady Almand, Kevin Doo and Rude took second at 3:15.01 in the 400 medley relay.
The Army West Point women's swimming and diving team had a solid showing on the second day of the Patriot League Championships, winning one event and breaking a plebe record. Sabrina Mortell was the first Army swimmer in the water and she swam to a sixth-place finish in the 500 free at 4:53.81. Whitney Chang broke a plebe record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.31. In the 50 free, it was Bailey Smith who topped the competition after she hit the wall at 23.08. That win came right after Madison Berg (23.53) and Nicole Parry (23.61) took the top-two spots in the B-Final. On the 1-meter board, Serica Hallstead came from behind to take second with a score of 267.55. Heather Yoshii placed eighth with her score of 227.30. In the final event of the night, the group of Cecelia Croman, Kara Wineinger, Whitney Chang and Bailey Smith finished third at 3:41.97.
