The Army West Point Fencing Team hosted their annual home invitational in Arvin Gym and came out with winning records for both the Women's and Men's Teams – posting a win-loss of 4-1 for the women and 3-2 for the men. The annual event hosts varsity-only teams from all over the USA, and this season the team was honored to have Cal Tech fly out from California just to compete in the event at West Point. The women defeated Cal Tech (24-3), Lafayette College (20-7), City College of NY (22-5) and Hunter College (24-3) while dropping only one loss to NCAA Division III nationally ranked Stevens Institute of Technology (5-22). All Three Weapon Squads for the Women – Sabre, Epee, Foil – all went 4-1 in win-loss and squad ranking. Top Women Competitors from Army included: Cadets Helen Schroeder in Sabre at 12-3; Amy Yang in Epee finishing 13-2, with team mate Claire Sirna at 9-4; In Foil Claudia Sun finished First Place undefeated at 14-1 (the loss was a dual defeat for both), with team mate Rachel Pennington coming in at 11-4, and Mia Melgoza 9-6. The men also defeated Cal Tech, by a score of 17-10, while also defeating Conference Rivals Lafayette College (14-13) and Hunter College (25-2). The Top-Ranking Weapon Squad for the Men was in the weapon of Epee with 3 Wins and 2 Losses. The Men's Team had several strong finishers from cadets Chris Papa and Noah Kambili, both at 9-6 and also both in the weapon of sabre; Vaughn Johnson and Mike Matthews in Epee (7-7 and 8-7 respectively).
