Cadets Visit UN High Commissioner for Refugees

Cadets enrolled in Senior Seminar and Topics in Ethics travelled to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for a briefing and to tour the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. At the UN, cadets met with Firas Kayal, UNHCR Senior Policy Advisor, and Grainne O'Hara, UNHCR Deputy Director, to learn about the Refugee Crisis that caught the Western world's attention in 2015 and continues to unfold. Mr. Kayal and Ms. O'Hara discussed the enormity of the problem and some misconceptions about it. Cadets travelled to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum for a tour that brought to life the immigrant history of New York City and the United States.
