The Patriot League announced Thursday that the Army West Point baseball team was projected fifth in the 2018 preseason poll. Bucknell was tabbed first with six-first place votes and 43 overall points. Navy came in second with four first-place nods and 38 points. The reigning conference champions, Holy Cross, took the third spot with two first-place votes and 29 points. Lehigh (27 points), Army (25 points) and Lafayette (18 points) closed out the poll in the fourth, fifth and six positions, respectively. The Black Knights also saw firstie Jon Rosoff voted to the Preseason All-Patriot League team. Last year, he led the team with 19 multi-hit games, including a career-best 5-for-6 performance at Bucknell on April 9, where he accounted for three runs and two RBI. Rosoff, a 2017 All-Patriot League First Team honoree, was one of just two players to have started in all 56 games for the Black Knights a season ago.
