CDT Stark Presents to ESTCP Symposium

Cadet Madison Stark presented her work on the Tactical Generator Monitoring System at the ESTCP Symposium in Washington, DC. Her smart meter, developed with Dr. Aaron St. Leger and MAJ Nicholas Barry, estimates the proper generator size for a given load. Oversized generators are a systemic problem across the DoD, with most operating at only twenty percent of their rated load. Generators are more fuel efficient and require less maintenance when run at higher load percentages. Cadet Stark’s inexpensive meter and algorithm monitors the attached load and recommends the proper sized generators, potentially saving millions in fuel and maintenance costs without requiring trained personnel to conduct extensive monitoring.
