Cadets studying in Muscat, Oman took advantage of a three-day break in their studies to visit Lebanon. A former US diplomat with previous duty in Beirut also spoke with the cadets, providing them advice and recommendations on cultural and historic sites and restaurants to visit. While in Lebanon they visited the Jeitta Grotto, Pigeon Rocks, Mount Lebanon, and several coastal cities enjoying Lebanese culture and the life and scenery of towns located on the Mediterranean Sea. Most importantly, cadets engaged with the Shammi (Levantine) dialect of Arabic, having spent their semester in Oman studying Fusha (or formal) Arabic. Their visit, the first cadet visit in over two decades, coincides with renewed interest from the Lebanese Military Academy in reestablishing a relationship with USMA, as relayed by the US Embassy - Beirut.
