Firstie John Valeri of the Army West Point men's cross country team has been named the Army West Point Athlete of the Week. This honor comes after Valeri's remarkable performance at the NCAA DI Northeast Regional Championships, where he placed 13th overall and led the team to a third-place finish, the best for Army since 2001. Valeri has had an impressive firstie season, finishing as the overall champion at the annual Army-Navy star meet. The Pembroke, Mass., native was the first Army runner to take the top overall spot in the race since 2013, helping the squad break a three-meet Navy winning streak. He has also led the Black Knights in the rest of their meets for the season, consistently finishing as one of the top two on the team.
