Cadets from the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering supported the 2017 Beat Air Force bonfire event with the successful conclusion of their Design-Build-Deliver-Burn (D2B2) project. Led by Cadet Gunner Patterson ’19, the cadets designed and fabricated a 1/5 replica of the A-10 Warthog Close Air Support (CAS) aircraft. The design featured the distinctive rear mounted, twin engines and the famed nose mounted, seven barrel Gau-8 Gatling gun. The D2B2 project provides cadets with a rewarding opportunity to develop design and fabrication skills in a service project focused on delivering a spirit item for the Corps.
