It was a beautiful day in Philadelphia for the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta marking the last fall competition. Army Crew ended the season with a very strong performance against mostly NCAA Division 1 completion. The team also welcomed many alumni for the first ever Army Crew Alumni rows. Men’s novice 4 event finished 8th and 9th out of 16 boats. Men’s championship 4 finished 13th and 15th out of 36 boats. Women’s championship 4 finished 21st out of 41 boats. Men’s novice 8 finished 9th out of 25 boats and beating Coast Guard’s novice men’s crew by approximately 5 seconds. Women’s novice 8 finished 18th out of 31 boats. Men’s club championship 8 finished 4th out of 38 boats and beat Coast Guard’s first and second boats. Women’s club championship 8 finished 22d out of 43 boats. Men’s championship 8 finished 6th out of 12 behind the US National Team (that won silver at worlds this year), University of Pennsylvania, St. Joseph’s University, Penn A.C., and Drexel. All of which are either national level teams or NCAA Division 1. Also, for the first time, three alumni boats entered under the Army Rowing Association in the Alumni 4 event (2 men’s and 1 women’s). It was a great opportunity for former rowers to interact with current members of the team. The boats consisted of: Men’s Alumni 4: McClintock ’94 (Stroke), Montanari ’96, Babbitt ’99, Schnack ’96, CDT Appel (coxswain) ’20. Men’s Alumni 4: Beale ’02 (Stroke), Davis ’08, Barker ’87, Linford ’07, CDT McGerty (coxswain) ’20. Women’s Alumni 4: Ostasewski ’08 (Stroke), Miller ’09, Schnack ’96, Jones ’93, CDT Fusselman (coxswain) ’20.
