Cadets in Construction Management completed Project Imperium (latin for “control”). Students estimated the cost and duration of a KNEX structure and then entered competitive bids. The teams refined their schedules and plans to build the project and were awarded contracts to proceed. Once construction began, cadets faced grave uncertainty: tornados, gas line leaks, VIP visits and permitting issues slowed their progress. Throughout all of this, construction managers monitored progress using earned value analysis and assessed this data to control the project. After successfully completing the project, teams filed claims against the owner which were heard in mock-court to settle disputes from delays during construction. Team “Spartan Centurion Ranger” composed of CDTs Elizabeth Psiaki, Blake Goddard, Phil White, Cam Opp, and Nathan Lopez emerged victorious.
