Critical Thinking About Role Playing

Information Literacy and Critical Thinking classes hosted Mr. PJ Miller, Broadway Producer, Dr. Daniel Eison and New York Attorney Sam Zeitlin in facilitating a Role Play event titled “The Councils Verdict.” Thirty class of 2021 cadets participated in improvisation and negotiation as they were assigned specific roles in the village and given a challenge to work through. Cadets practiced critical thinking, cultural understanding and empathy in facing a community crisis, selecting leadership in a Southeast Asian village and then deciding whether they would allow foreign military units to build on village land. Much is gained in terms of considering other points of view in making important decisions and that the evening exercise was great fun for the group.
