Firstie co-captain Clare Shea of the Army West Point women's soccer team was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, announced by the league Wednesday afternoon. Shea collected her second academic all-league honor after being named to the team last year. The Allendale, N.J., native boasts a 3.802 grade-point average as an Operations Research major, ranking in the top-10 percent of the senior class at West Point. Seven of the 10 Patriot League programs were represented with at least one student-athlete on the academic all-League squad, with Bucknell placing three student-athletes on the 11-member team. All 11 student-athletes selected for the academic all-League squad were also named to the All-Patriot League teams on Monday. Shea earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors Monday after leading the Black Knights in goals (2), assists (3), points (7), shots (32) and shots on goal (14). The Allendale, N.J., native was one of two Cadets to record a goal and an assist in the same game, accomplishing the feat against Syracuse on Aug. 24. She closed out her career with the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory over American on Saturday. It was her 10th-career tally. Read More
