Dr. Seligman Speaks to Cadets and FacultyDr. Martin Seligman widely recognized as the founder of positive psychology, the Director of the Penn Positive Psychology Center and Zellerbach Family Professor of Psychology, spoke to faculty and cadets enrolled in General Psychology for Leaders, Advanced General Psychology for Leaders and Introduction to Computing and Information Technology, as part of the Class of 1951 Distinguished Lecture Series. The title of his talk was: The Human Dimension of Future Conflicts: or Why should an Engineering School bother to teach Psychology?

This lecture series is made possible by the generosity and dedication of the Class of 1951. Dr. Seligman is working with the Army on the Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness program, which he has brought to the forefront of Army initiatives and is based on the principles of positive psychology. More recently, Dr. Seligman is also making significant contributions to the Army’s Human Dimension Concept, which encompasses the cognitive, physical and social components of Soldiers, Army Civilians and leaders, focusing on the organizational development and performance essential to raise, prepare and employ the Army in unified land operations.
