Kosciuszko Squadron Cadets traveled to Washington, DC on an invitation from the Polish Embassy to take part in ceremonies commemorating Kosciuszko’s death two hundred years ago this October. Cadets participated in a 5K run organized by Embassy staff, after which they took in DC cultural sites. That evening, they hosted the Squadron’s founder, LTG(R) Ed Rowny ’41 of Korean, Vietnam and Cold War fame, for dinner, where he answered questions about history, his war experiences, and what he thought the future might hold for them as officers. The next day they visited Arlington Memorial Cemetery; then took pictures in front of the White House as they prepared to take part in the wreath-laying ceremonies at the Kosciuszko monument on Lafayette Square. After cadets Isabela Vargas, Bartlomiej Grzybowski and Joshua Siemaczko assisted with the wreath laying, Squadron Cadets got a chance to interact with leaders of the Polish community, including Ambassador Piotr Wilczek and his embassy staff.
