Yearling quarterback Kelvin Hopkins Jr. was selected as the Army West Point Athletic Association's Athlete of the Week after leading Army on a game-tying scoring drive late in the game against Temple. In his first lengthy time on the field in his career, Hopkins marched the Black Knights 79 yards in 14 plays to tie the Owls with one second remaining in the 31-28 overtime victory against Temple. Hopkins was 5-of-11 on the drive threw the air, but finished the drive by completing five of his last eight passes and spotted Adams for his first collegiate touchdown pass.
