The Atlantic Hockey Association has announced the naming of its new tournament championship trophy as the Jack Riley Memorial Trophy. Riley was West Point's hockey coach from 1951-1986 and boasts over 500 wins in his career and won Team USA's first hockey gold medal when he was the head coach in 1960. One of the greatest responsibilities a league has is making sure all actions coincide with the mission and vision of the conference and its member institutions. This becomes even more paramount when deciding which significant figure would have his or her name attached to a league award. This was a responsibility Atlantic Hockey and its member institutions undertook this summer once the new tournament championship trophy was in development. After a couple months of fielding nominations and discussing the potential impact each nominee would have as the named honoree on the championship trophy, one person stood out above the rest.
