Semester Abroad Cadets Arrive in Muscat

Cadets Samuel Evans ’18, Jonathan Young ’19, Lauren Pile ’19, Richard Iwuagwu ’19, arrived at their Semester Abroad location in Oman. As part of initial cultural orientation, they have visited the capital city, the Grand Mosque, the state museum, and the Sultan’s palace. The cadets were also able to spend the Islamic New Year hiking in Wadi Shab near the town of Sur. They will also visit the important port of Salalah, located on Oman’s southern coast. In addition to their Arabic language practice, the cadets are getting exposure and instruction in Arabic calligraphy, Omani culture and customs, and are participating in intensive speaking practice sessions with Omani college students.
