Civil and Mechanical Engineering (CME) delivered 15 Cadet Chapel symbolic key replicas to the West Point SHARP Program Manager, Ms. Samantha Ross, as part of a service project in support of the 5th Annual SHARP Summit. The theme of this year’s summit is ‘Protecting and Understanding Relationships’ and, as a fitting tribute, CME 3D printed symbolic key replicas that feature the Athena helmet and gladius on the handle and the Army A on the tab. Designed earlier by a group of cadets, led by 2LT Sam Martinez ’17 CME used in-house Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) machines, or 3D printers, to produce the replicas in ABS plastic. Mr. Frank Blackmon, an Additive Manufacturing expert and lab technician for CME, organized the 3D printing production process.
